Elisso Bolkvadze has been appointed as the Minister of Culture of Ajara

Elisso Bolkvadze has been appointed as the Minister of Culture of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara.

The announcement regarding the new personnel changes was made by the Chairman of the Government of Ajara, Tornike Rijvadze.

“We have decided to establish a separate Ministry of Culture of Ajara, independent from the existing Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sports. The newly formed ministry will continue its activities autonomously.

Ajara indeed possesses tremendous potential in the field of culture. Therefore, we considered it appropriate to further strengthen this sector in a more effective manner. In recent years, we have achieved numerous accomplishments in the cultural sphere, and I am confident that this progress will continue in the future.

It is my honor to introduce the head of the new ministry — the Minister, Ms. Elisso Bolkvadze, who is very well known to our society. Ms. Bolkvadze has served as a member of the Tenth Convocation of the Parliament of Georgia, where she chaired the Culture Committee. She is also a UNESCO Artist for Peace. Ms. Bolkvadze received her education at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire and later at the École Normale de Musique de Paris. She is the founder of the Batumi International Black Sea Festival, and I am confident that under her leadership, we will witness many positive and progressive developments in the cultural sphere of Ajara.

I would also like to express my gratitude to Ms. Maia Khajishvili, who has led the cultural sector for the past several years. I thank her for her dedicated work and the results achieved. Ms. Khajishvili will continue to serve as the head of both the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Sports,” stated Tornike Rijvadze.
