“Musical Batumi in Yerevan” Gala Concert Held in Armenia

The gala concert “Musical Batumi in Yerevan” was held at the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall in Yerevan, the capital of the Republic of Armenia.

The concert opened with a hymn dedicated to the memory of Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia. The musical evening featured a joint concert program performed by the Symphony Orchestra of the Batumi State Musical Centre and the Ajara State Vocal Ensemble “Batumi.”

Prior to the beginning of the musical program, Minister of Culture of Ajara Elisso Bolkvadze addressed the audience with welcoming remarks, noting that the gala concert represented a vivid example of cultural dialogue. According to the Minister, mutual respect and friendship between peoples are among the values that create a continuous dynamic of relations and foster closer ties between nations.

The Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, Artur Martirosyan, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Armenia, Giorgi Sharvashidze, also highlighted the strong partnership and friendly relations between the two countries.

As part of the musical program, Georgian artists performed works by renowned Georgian composers, including Zakaria Paliashvili, Revaz Lagidze, Otar Taktakishvili, Jansug Kakhidze, Vazha Azarashvili, Viktor Dolidze, and Niko Sulkhanishvili, as well as traditional Georgian polyphonic songs.

The program also featured the “Waltz” by renowned Armenian composer Aram Khachaturian and the Armenian song “Yerevani.” The harmonious combination of classical music and Georgian polyphony received an enthusiastic response from the audience.

The gala concert was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, the Ministry of Culture of Ajara, the Embassy of Georgia in Armenia, and the Consulate General of the Republic of Armenia in Batumi. The audience also included diplomats representing various countries in Yerevan, including ambassadors and consuls, representatives of the Georgian diaspora, and other distinguished guests.

Prior to the gala concert, Minister of Culture of Ajara Elisso Bolkvadze met with representatives of local media outlets and answered their questions.

The event was co-organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Autonomous Republic of Ajara, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, and the Consulate General of the Republic of Armenia in Batumi, with the support of the Embassy of Georgia in Armenia.
